The Waldo School

local history matters

The Purpose of this Project

The Waldo Area Historical Society is dedicated to safeguarding the rich heritage of Waldo and its surrounding community. Through the generosity of our donors and the success of our local events, we are proud to facilitate community-driven initiatives that bring our history to life.

Our current flagship project involves securing an official historical marker for the Waldo City Square building, formerly known as the Waldo Community School. For over a century, this site has served as a cornerstone of our town. Our goal is to honor its enduring significance and provide an educational landmark for residents and visitors alike.

We are currently in the process of seeking formal approval from the State of Florida to designate this site as an official historic property. The Society will provide regular updates on this page as we move through the state’s application process. We look forward to sharing this milestone with the community.
